About Thomas Strønen
Norwegian Thomas Strønen is a prolific drummer, composer, arranger, producer, and bandleader. He has participated in or self-created nearly 100 albums as a leader and in cooperation with a variety of talent, including Food, Humcrush, and Parish, and his own Time Is a Blind Guide. His most celebrated recordings are 2004's Humcrush, 2006's Parish (2006), and six albums by the Food collective from 2002 to 2015. In 2021 he issued Bayou with clarinetist Marthe Lea and pianist Ayumi Tanaka. In 2024 he released Relations, that included duets with pianists Craig Taborn and Jorge Rossy, saxophonist Chris Potter, and Norwegian singer and folk musician Sinikka Langeland. In January 2026, Strønen and Time Is a Blind Guide, his ever-evolving acoustic group, released Off Stillness on ECM, followed in August by Windflower in trio with American bassist Thomas Morgan and Japanese pianist Tanaka; it too was released by ECM.
