About Rilès
Hip-hop multi-hyphenate Rilès is a DIY success story. Powered by discipline and creative consistency, he became the first French artist to sign with the American label Republic Records.
• Rilès’ music journey started with a guitar gifted to him by his father. While teaching himself to play the instrument, he began exploring the basics of song creation.
• He attended the Université de Rouen, where he studied English Literature to improve his writing skills and received a scholarship that enabled him to fund the creation of a home studio.
• Rilès independently released his 2015 debut EP, Vanity Plus Mind, and followed up with his 2016 breakthrough hit “Brothers,” which cracked the Top 40 on the French Charts.
• From September 2016 to September 2017, Rilès committed himself to producing, writing, recording, and engineering a new song every Sunday, an undertaking he called RILÈSUNDAYZ.
• RILÈSUNDAYZ helped to earn him a deal with Republic Records, through which he delivered his highly anticipated debut album WELCOME TO the JUNGLE in 2019.
• The following year, Rilès released LVL 36. The EP’s lead single “GOA” racked up over 3 million streams across platforms.
• Rilès sings and raps primarily in English, even though most of his fans aren’t native English speakers. He says this gives him the freedom to be totally honest with his lyrics.
