Artist Biography
The Number Ones (they also spell it the #1s or the #No.1s on occasion) are a rock band whose music embraces the scrappy energy of first-wave punk rock as well as the hooky melodies (and occasionally brokenhearted mood) of '70s power pop. Based in Dublin, Ireland, the Number Ones were formed in 2011 by four young men with experience in other poppy and punky outfits; guitarist and vocalist Eddie Kenrick was a member of Crowd Control, Strong Boys, and the Bang Bros, while guitarist and vocalist Seán Goucher also worked with the Cheap Freaks, and both bassist and singer Cian Nugent and drummer Conor Lumsden performed with Cian Nugent & the Cosmos. Not long after the Number Ones formed, they released a cassette-only EP, Italia '90, and began making a name for themselves on the U.K. punk circuit. After releasing a handful of 7" vinyl singles, the Number Ones struck a deal with the U.K. punk label Static Shock Records; primarily recorded in their rehearsal space in a single day, the group's self-titled album was released in August 2014. ~ Mark Deming
