About Amy Grant
Artist Biography
Amy Grant is the most successful contemporary Christian music crossover star of all time, thanks to the youthful, modern edge she brings to her songs. Born in 1960, the Augusta, GA, native released her 1978 self-titled debut album while still in high school, setting the stage for faith-driven hits such as 1979’s “Father’s Eyes” and 1982’s “El-Shaddai.” By the mid-’80s, Grant was landing on the mainstream pop charts, courtesy of the synth-heavy Top 40 hit “Find a Way” and a No. 1 duet with Peter Cetera, "The Next Time I Fall." All of this set the stage for 1991’s Heart in Motion, a polished, modern-sounding tour de force driven by effervescent hits such as “Baby, Baby” and “Every Heartbeat” that established Grant outside of Christian music and paved the way for adult-contemporary chart success. Today, she no longer has to choose between Christian and mainstream pop; Grant balances the secular and spiritual eras of her music career, having recorded gospel and Christian pop albums in addition to performing well-received Christmas shows alongside husband Vince Gill.
