About The Catenary Wires
A British band led by longtime contributors to England's indie pop and twee scenes, the Catenary Wires favor a sparer blend of sweet and melancholy indie pop than their earlier groups such as Heavenly and Tender Trap. The project was established after moving out of the city to more sylvan territory in 2014. The Catenary Wires made their debut a year later with Red Red Skies. Named for symbolic rough seas along the coast of Southern England, their third album, Birling Gap, arrived in 2021, and they teamed up with a poet Brian Bilston for the playful Sounds Made by Humans in 2025. That album favored a livelier, '60s beat music-flavored indie pop for new songs featuring spoken passages by Bilston.
