About Alex Cambridge
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Road trips in St Lucia with my mum, singing Alan Jackson and Neil Diamond at the top of our lungs. Their raw and honest storytelling stuck with me and inspired me to play guitar, piano, and write songs that make people feel.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
FLETCHER, Would You Still Love Me If You Really Knew Me?
John Mayer, Continuum
Maddie Zahm, Now That I've Been Honest
Very different albums, but what binds them for me is the gut wrenching honesty and vulnerability in the songwriting. The way these artists tell their stories makes me want to sit and chat with them for hours about life and share our own stories.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Rupture”
Rupture will always be extra special as it was my first single after a long and difficult break from music. I re recorded, produced, and mixed it myself, reclaiming its 2017 release. It was liberating and fulfilling as an indie artist.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Meeting a lovely lady at a show who told me how much she related to my songs. There were lots of tears and hugs, and it reminded me why I share such raw, vulnerable parts of myself in my music. I’ll never forget that day!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Go on tour!! I’d also love to write with some of my favourite artists and songwriters, and one day write for other artists too.
