Ikky has a clear aim: to take Punjabi music to the world. “I will work to find opportunities to grow the music I love with the hope that the rest of the world sees what only Punjabis and the diaspora see at the moment,” says the Canadian producer and composer, aka Ikwinder Singh. He is well on his way to achieving that mission. The son of first-generation immigrants, Ikky learned to play the harmonium and sarangi as a child, and began making beats as a teenager for his family’s bhangra troupe. He later started ghost-producing for artists in Toronto, gaining early recognition with “Diamond” by Gurnam Bhullar (2018), which amassed millions of streams. The Toronto-based hitmaker, whose hip-hop and pop productions draw on influences from Indian folk, R&B and reggae, has worked with some of the biggest names in Punjabi music. Artists turn to him for a global sound that enhances the desi elements of their work. His collaborators include Amrit Maan and Sidhu Moose Wala (“Bambiha Bole”, 2020), Diljit Dosanjh (the Tory Lanez-featuring “Chauffeur”, 2022), Shubh (“Baller”, 2022) and, most prominently, Karan Aujla. Ikky helmed a run of major releases for the latter, including the EP For You (2023), the Canadian top-five albums Making Memories (2023) and P-POP CULTURE  (2025), as well as collaborations such as “Tell Me”, with OneRepublic (2025), and a remix of Ed Sheeran’s “Symmetry” (2025). Ikky’s efforts to bridge his two cultures extend beyond the recording studio. He serves as creative director of 91 North Records, a joint venture between Warner Music Canada and Warner Music India launched in 2023 to amplify South Asian artists. This followed the formation of his own label, 4N (pronounced “foreign”) Records, in 2021, a partnership with Coalition Music and Warner Music, through which he has released projects including the electronic-infused EP Ikky’s House (2024). An Apple Music Next alumnus and host of the Punjabi Takeover radio show in 2024, Ikky won his first Juno Award in 2026 when P-POP CULTURE took Best South Asian Music Recording of the Year. He was also nominated in the same category for Renaissance (2025), his collaborative EP with Raf-Saperra. Quite the achievement for an artist still in his early twenties.
