In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid, I used to go with my mother to her friend's house and he had a huge studio. His room was tiny. But the studio was heavily equipped. I used to sneak in there and just take in the ambiance. It felt like home to me.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Erykah Badu, Baduizm Frank Ocean, channel ORANGE SZA, Ctrl These albums are so lyrically imaginative. They challenged my pen and helped me to see beyond the surface of myself. The colors they used to paint the pictures of my own emotions are something I haven't found anywhere else.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ride” I wrote this song after leaving my husband, moving to Hawaii, and trying to start over. I had some more mishaps with people I was supposed to trust. I was breaking down. I was at the point where I just needed to know who was down for me.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'm really just getting started on my journey to sharing my music with the world. The most memorable moment I've had thus far is sharing my first song. It sounded awful, but I felt so good to let it out to the world. I decided I needed more.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to collab with some of my favorite artists. Being able to share the room with some of the greatest creatives and exchange energy is definitely in my top 10. I have a long way to go though. I'm just happy to be here.
