A rangy and collaborative indie pop project from Sweden, Abstract Crimewave is the work of veteran songsmiths Björn Yttling and Joakim Åhlund. Previously known as Smile, the duo made their debut in 2012, resurfacing nine years later with 2021's Phantom Island. In addition to their own bands (Peter Bjorn and John and Teddybears), Yttling and Åhlund are in-demand pop producers and songwriters whose collective resumé boasts names like Charli xcx, Robyn, Chrissie Hynde, and Giorgio Moroder. In 2024, the pair rebranded as Abstract Crimewave and released their third album together, The Longest Night.
