A wily jazz guitarist fluent in everything from jump to swing, Al Casey began his career under the sizeable wing of the uproarious Fats Waller. Casey was a fixture in Waller's band for the decade up until the pianist's death in 1943. When he switched to electric, his Charlie Christian-esque style proved a natural for R&B, and Casey teamed up with King Curtis for some classic sides. He remained one of the most prominent session musicians for decades and continued to hone his style well into his 90s.
