Jersey City rapper Albee Al is carrying on the legacy and the stage name that his father left behind.
• Inspired by his late father—the original Albee Al, a member of Jersey hip-hop crew Sweet, Slick and Sly—Al began his rap journey in his early childhood.
• By 2010, Al had begun releasing self-produced singles and mixtapes. However, his activity in the streets led to his arrest and a four-year incarceration while awaiting trial.
• After his 2014 acquittal, Al devoted himself to rapidly releasing music for fans who had been awaiting his return. In 2015, he dropped the noteworthy mixtape Everyday June 30th in honor of his brother who was murdered on that date.
• In 2019, Al released his most successful mixtape to date, Koba, which hit No. 6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
