The Alliage Quintet (or, in its native Germany, Quintett) is a unique ensemble consisting of four saxophones and piano. The group's name comes from the French word "alliage," meaning alloy. The group was founded by saxophonist Daniel Gauthier, who plays soprano saxophone. He is joined by alto saxophonist Hayrapet Arakelyan, tenor saxophonist Simon Hanrath, Sebastian Pottmeier on baritone saxophone, and pianist Jang Eun Bae. The group made its recording debut in 2008 with a heavily reworked Four Seasons of Vivaldi. The Alliage Quintet's Lost in Temptation release, featuring seductive dances from a variety of musical eras, appeared in early 2018. In 2023, the group joined cellist Alban Gerhardt for the all-transcriptions album Phantasy in Blue.
Members of Alliage Quintett include, or have included, Hayrapet Arakelyan.
