Gospel singer and songwriter Andrea McClurkin-Mellini was born in Amityville, New York into a very special musical family, which included her brother Donnie McClurkin. Donnie formed the nine-voice McClurkin Singers, which included two of his four sisters, Andrea and Olivia, in the late '70s, and the group became the nucleus of the New York Restoration Mass Choir. Andrea, along with Donnie and all of her sisters, regrouped again in 2007 as the McClurkin Project, and Andrea's songwriting contributions were a big part of the resulting album, We Praise You. Although she freely admitted being more comfortable singing background vocals, Andrea founded LoveSong Ministries in 2008 to promote a solo career. Her debut album, Higher, led by the single "God Can," appeared from Donnie McClurkin's Camdon Music imprint in 2014. ~ Steve Leggett
