In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One day my father brought home "Oxygene" by Jean-Michel Jarre. I played it endlessly, fascinated with the synthesized sounds, the feelings it created, and amazed that one person had done it. It sounded like a science fiction movie come to life.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brian Eno, Harold Budd, The Pearl David Bowie, Low (2017 Remaster) David Sylvian, Blemish These albums show artists carving new paths and finding beauty and depth. "Low" is my favorite Bowie album, full of ideas. "Blemish" mixes beauty and noise. "The Pearl" is my favorite record of all time, beautiful and mysterious.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Daemons” "Daemons" is an intensely personal song coupled to a modern electronic track, incorporating influences from many of my favorite artists (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Thomas Dolby, Nine Inch Nails). It has a good hook, and kicks off the album perfectly.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing a show at the DeYoung museum in San Francisco a few years back. Having my music echoing through such a beautiful space, surrounded by amazing works of art was magical. It felt like the music was being exhibited, too.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to play a show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. I saw many shows there myself as a kid, and perhaps my music would inspire someone in the audience the way all the shows I saw there inspired me.
