About Areed
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Standing before a packed sanctuary at seven years old, my voice echoed into the rafters, and the congregation’s thunderous reaction hit me like lightning. That unexpected moment revealed a hidden gift and sparked a passion that still fires my soul.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Babyface, Tender Lover
Donny Hathaway, A Donny Hathaway Collection
Rahsaan Patterson, Rahsaan Patterson
I chose these albums because they represent classic, modern, and contemporary soul. Each project powerfully evokes a range of raw emotions, with lyrics and arrangements that truly pierce my soul! These projects always take me there!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“You”
My first single, "You," is special because most think it's about falling in love, but it isn’t. It’s about recognizing the person who feels different from everyone who came before. A modern R&B love confession with classic soul sincerity.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
The most memorable moment of my career so far occurred in Paris, and at the end of the show, the crowd requested that I sing my opening number again (Mustang Sally). I did, and I always say that was my biggest compliment ever!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Absolutely! I am looking forward to my shows in the UK, Paris, Amsterdam, Africa, and other places worldwide. I am excited and ready to represent a genre of music whose honesty, emotion, and storytelling compel people to feel and see themselves.
