About Arthur Oskan
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing the ingenuity of my aunt and uncle creating music in their living room has been foundational to my career. She was an internationally renowned opera singer and pianist; he was a trained clarinet player with a passion for hi-fi.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Boards of Canada, Music Has the Right to Children Depeche Mode, Black Celebration BOC: Music Has the Right To Children - takes me back to nature films in darkened classrooms Portico Quartet: Monument - beautiful acoustic/electronic tapestry Depeche Mode: Black Celebration - rudimentary exposure to a sampling masterclass
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lovebug” Fun fact: "Lovebug" was recorded live in one take. While the foundation was built in the studio, the lightening was caught in the bottle while performing it during a live set a week later. Rather than redoing it, I released it as-is with Cityfox.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The Juno award nomination was certainly a professional highlight, however meeting both Alan Wilder and Vince Clark who were both instrumental in charting my journey also stands out. Their candour and open nature is something I'll never forget.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes. Starting a record label which I'm proud to have finally achieved! It's been two decades in the making, observing and learning through close friends and colleagues. It's a challenge I'm ready for, and it's never felt more right than now.
