Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My dad took my brother and I to see E-sir perform live at Carnivore when I was 9. His performance jolted my spirit, as if confirming that endless singing and dancing around the house were not in vain. Music and performance was my calling.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill I feel like this album is so amazing that it cannot be explained. It only gets better every time you listen to it.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Honey (K.I.S.S.I.N.G)” I love how creative energy flowed through me and inspired me to use a familiar childhood rhyme as the hook. I also appreciate the details in the engineering of the sound in the song.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I finally received the financial backing to curate the live launch of my debut EP, Aurientation. The joy of executing my own show how I imagined it and to be able to collaborate with and financially support my peers is unmatched.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Make timeless art. Get nominated for and win Grammies, MAMAs, BET, and EMAs Be inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Perform at global and regional festivals. Meet and collaborate on music with Stargate, Pharrell, and Darkchild. Get into film.
