A producer and multi-instrumentalist who can write and sing his own lyrics, Big Wild creates bright and atmospheric electronic music with shades of pop and indie.
• Born Jackson Stell, Big Wild began his career in high school producing hip-hop under the name J Beatz.
• After creating music for ad agencies, the Massachusetts native moved to Los Angeles and—on the strength of his remixes—caught the ear of the electronic duo ODESZA.
• In 2014, he reworked ODESZA’s hit “Say My Name” for an album of remixes that also features Hermitude, Jai Wolf, and RAC, among others.
• His breakthrough came with the 2015 single “Aftergold,” which appeared in a popular commercial. Big Wild rereleased the track with vocals from Tove Styrke and scored a massive streaming hit.
• Big Wild was the primary singer and lyricist on his 2019 debut LP, Superdream, which features the standout singles “6’s to 9’s” and “Joypunks.” The album was inspired by his bout with thyroid cancer in 2013.
