Billy Ray Cyrus is the father of pop superstar Miley Cyrus, Metro Station leader Trace Cyrus, and singer Noah Cyrus.
∙ Cyrus, who aspired to play professional baseball, not only received an athletic scholarship to Kentucky’s Georgetown College, but he also was scouted by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
∙ After seeing Neil Diamond in concert, he decided to pursue music and bought a guitar the very next day.
∙ His 1992 debut single, “Achy Breaky Heart,” which spent five weeks atop the Country charts and was also a crossover Pop hit, is credited with boosting the popularity of line dancing.
