San Antonio rapper Blake burst onto the scene in 2016 with the self-released single “Flexin,” a showcase for his deep-voiced delivery and chilly production.
• Blake started recording when he was in eighth grade and later worked as a videographer, making videos for other artists before he finally popped off.
• His stage name is simply his middle name. He wasn’t sure what else to call himself.
• Buzz from his singles led to a deal with Atlantic Records, and Blake dropped his debut mixtape, A Drip Like This, in 2018. The tape’s 10 tracks are “based on gangster beats, heavy bass, and feelings,” according to the rapper.
