Best known as the lead singer/bassist of the Australian dream rock outfit the Church, Steve Kilbey is also an accomplished solo artist and writer. Drawing upon psychedelic rock, glam rock, and post-punk, Kilbey emerged with the Church in the early '80s and gained worldwide fame with the band's sixth album, 1988's Starfish, which featured the classic hit single "Under the Milky Way." Along with his continued work with the Church, he has regularly issued solo albums like 1987's Unearthed, 1990's Remindlessness, and 2018's Sydney Rococo. He also published his autobiography, Something Quite Peculiar, written books of poetry, and collaborated with All India Radio's Martin Kennedy on sci-fi-infused electronic albums. Following 2021's The Hall Of Counterfeits, he delivered two companion albums with the Church on 2023's The Hypnogogue and 2024's Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars, all of which showcase his varied interests in psychedelia, literature, art, and mysticism.
