About Bonzo Dog Band
Artist Biography
One of the most unique British bands of the 1960s, the Bonzo Dog Band were true eccentrics, bringing a distinctly English brand of absurdist humor to a mix of trad jazz and psychedelic-era (though not quite psychedelic per se) rock. They released their debut album (as the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band) in 1967, and in short order they became cult favorites on both sides of the Atlantic. They split definitively after their fifth album in 1972, prime movers Neil Innes and Viv Stanshall going on to solo careers (Innes also worked with Monty Python). Stanshall passed away in 1995, but Innes led a reunited Bonzo Dog Band for a reunion album in 2007.
