Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember listening to Rap Attack on WBLS in the 80's as I fell asleep each night. When I first heard Rakim's "My Melody"...I lost my mind. I had never heard flow like that. I knew I wanted to dive into this magical place and do my thing.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eric B. & Rakim, Paid In Full Expanded Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV (Remastered) Steely Dan, Aja Remastered Each of these are a part of my journey. "Paid in Full" is almost a greatest hits album full of Rakim gems. As a drummer, "Zep IV" was my introduction to John Bonham, the greatest of all time and as an Audio Engineer, "Aja" was just so sonically pure!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Got Flow, Vol. 3” Flowing over samples of other artists grooves was always cool. It's how I started working my skills back in the day. "Got Flow" uses a dope live track written by some of my best friends from the NYC band Urban Blight. Recording this was a ton of fun!
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? As my kids got older and became aware of some of my tracks, I was able to share the process with them. Working on "Throw Your Hands Up" was memorable as my kids offered feedback during the writing and recording of the track. Absolutely incredible!
