BOYINSPACE has always felt like an outsider, but that’s what makes his music so sonically unique. Born in India and raised in Singapore from the age of three, the driven artist discovered his love for hip-hop while living in Houston, Texas. When he returned to Singapore at age 15, he took those Western influences with him—as well as a mounting sense of isolation that continues to inform his heartfelt, moody lyrics and otherworld melodic trap sound. Drawing inspiration from personal life experiences, the artist debuted his lucid first single “Feelings” in 2018, and pivoted towards a more grounded, upbeat sound on “Blvd”—released in the same year alongside more typically introspective singles “Pepys Rd” and “Lust”. He dug deep into melancholy for his first track of 2019, “XO”. On 2020 EP 157, BOYINSPACE transitioned towards sharper, darker tones that packed a punch emotionally and musically—and delved deeper into the unique perspective he brings to the Singaporean hip-hop scene.
