About Brooks Kidd
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Growing up, I played every sport you can think of and always felt out of place. One day, a friend of my father's approached him, suggesting that I audition for a local theatre's production of Oliver. That experience introduced me to music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Ethel Cain, Preacher’s Daughter
Lorde, Melodrama
Phoebe Bridgers, Punisher
Melodrama: This album has been a staple in my playlists since high school.
Punisher: This album taught me how to write music.
Preacher's Daughter: This album showed me how to weave personal experiences and a fictitious narrative into a masterpiece.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“embers & ashes”
This was the last song I wrote for juxtaposition, but the first song I wrote that I truly loved. As I am certain many artists will relate, I always found it difficult to listen to the things I created. Now, I only create what I love, for me, alone.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
When I walked into the audition room on American Idol. I was completely shocked and amazed that Grammy Award-winning musicians would be feet away from me, hearing me sing. Nothing can prepare you for that moment, and no one could ever forget it.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
There are an endless number of things I have yet to do that I will find the correct creative medium to release into the ether. Up next is creating my second solo project, which is on its way now. Who knows what other stories I have left to tell.
