In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember performing at a local talent show and winning 3rd place for playing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston as a piano solo. I had always been praised for my vocal prowess and wanted to see if my piano skills measured up.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brian McKnight, Brian McKnight Luther Vandross, The Night I Fell In Love Michael Jackson, Thriller These 3 artists informed my style of singing and writing. I grew up with a musical family, that encouraged me to sing along with these greats. They also provided the soundtrack of my life.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “When I'm With You” I wrote this song when reflecting on my current relationship. At the time, my girlfriend seemed dubious about our future together and this song was meant to remind her of its possible permanence.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I have to say auditioning for American Idol, even though I didn’t make it past the first one. There was a competition amongst the artists auditioning and the prize was information on what the judges were looking for; I won the competition.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’ve yet to release a full album or to perform overseas. I’ve also yet to sell a million albums. I’d also like to perform a sold out event.
