About Cardinal Black
The Newport, Wales act deliver soulful, blues-inspired rock, a sound borne of their original 2010 incarnation, the Tom Hollister Trio. That act fizzled out within a year but, a decade on, the trio reconnected during 2020's COVID-19 lockdowns and ultimately re-formed as Cardinal Black. In 2021, their debut single, "Tell Me How It Feels," became the inaugural release on their own Jump In label, named for their follow-up single. Both tracks appeared on a self-titled EP issued shortly afterward. 2022's "Rise Up," was the first single from January Came Close, their debut full-length LP. A 2023 show in South Wales was recorded in tribute to guitarist Chris Buck's late father and issued the following year as Live at the Memo. Their sophomore studio album, 2025's Midnight at the Valencia, saw them add a touch of Americana to their sound, as well as a dash of Paul Weller-inspired innovation.
