About Subway to Sally
Subway to Sally is a German folk metal band. Since 1990, they've offered a hybrid metal sound blending folk, hard rock, power metal, Gothic aspects, prog, classical, improv, and liturgical music. In addition to standard rock instrumentation, they play bagpipes, strings, shawm, violin, hurdy-gurdy, and lute. The group's first three albums -- Album 1994, MCMXCV in 1995, and Foppt den Dämon! in 1996 -- were released independently, while 1997's Bannkreis, 1999's Hochzei, and 2000's live Schrei appeared on BMG Ariola. Subway to Sally were a breath of fresh air in metal. Since issuing 2001's Herzblut, they've continued releasing titles approximately every two years. In late 2004, they signed with Nuclear Blast for three albums, among them 2009's Kreuzfeuer. The band moved over to SIS Entertainment for 2010's Schwarz in Schwarz and 2019's Hey! In 2023, they released Himmelfahrt, followed by Post Mortem the following year, both from Napalm Records.
