About Charles Cooley
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
From a young age music had a massive impact on my life. My first memory is being in my parent's place at the breakfast table on a school day and hearing "Summer Breeze" by Seals & Crofts. It was spring & that moment sticks with me 52 years later.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here
Queen, A Day at the Races Deluxe Edition
The Tubes, What Do You Want from Live (Live From Hammersmith Odeon)
Day At the Races is so eclectic, from stirring ballad to crunching heavy rock, Better than NATO. Wish You Were Here is captivating from start to finish, the power and texture and the story. Tubes Live just the most diverse live LP ever!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Can't Be Make Believe”
One of my latest, it somehow captures my 70's influence more perfectly than any other song. I love diversity, but this, to me, has a feel reminiscent of Bad Company and one of my favourite vocalists, though Paul Rodgers i'll never be.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Playing live with one of my early bands at an all ages heavy rock show and having this kid in the front row just waving and rocking out & high diving, then handing me a sticker he'd got for the radio station promoting the show. Just a vibe!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Just want to continue writing and recording whatever comes to mind until I just can't anymore. After 40 years I still haven't given up hope that one song might just connect with people. One can dream. But the rule is, never say never!
