One of the most celebrated and influential figures in the history of Australian rock, Chris Bailey earned international acclaim as the leader of the Saints, who helped launch the punk revolution in his homeland and remained a presence for 40 years. Bailey could sing with the force of a blast furnace on songs like "(I'm) Stranded" or "This Perfect Day," but he was also capable of full-bodied pop music ("Just Like Fire Would"), straightforward rootsy rock & roll ("Grain of Sand"), and R&B-influenced ravers ("Everything Turns Sour"), among other stylistic detours. A representative sampling of the Saints' recorded output would include their blazing 1977 debut (I'm) Stranded, the thoughtful pop of 1987's All Fools Day, and the dirty roots rock rave-up of 2002's Spit the Blues Out. For an introduction to Bailey's solo career, 2005's DM Blues, Vol. 1 brings together four notable albums in one package.
