About Chris D.
One of the more distinctive and challenging figures on the early Los Angeles punk scene, Chris D. is a vocalist, songwriter, producer, critic, author, and occasional actor who summons darkly cinematic visions and weds them to rugged melodies informed by punk, blues, and roots music. He first made his name with the Flesh Eaters, an incendiary combo whose best-known lineup included members of X and the Blasters. He stayed active in the 1980s and '90s with Divine Horsemen and Stone by Stone, and in the 21st century, he returned to music-making, releasing albums with the Flesh Eaters (2019's I Used to Be Pretty), Divine Horsemen (2021's Hot Rise of an Ice Cream Phoenix), and Poison Fang Society (2026's Courtroom Wedding).
