In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was in 8th grade, my teacher Alvin Thomas introduced me to the legendary Alvin Batiste. He was the second jazz musician I had ever met aside from my dad Wilfred (CRIP) Severin Sr. a drummer. That is where my jazz playing began.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jaco Pastorius, Jaco Pastorius Ray Brown Trio, Bassics: The Best Of The Ray Brown Trio (1977-2000) Stanley Clarke, Stanley Clarke These artists all contribute a different concept to bass playing. It helps to make a well rounded musician. It gave me the perspective I need to excel as a bassist.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Stepping out as a solo artist after being a side man most of my career. I have always been featured or co-written many projects, but this time, I am on my own work that I wrote, recorded, mixed, produced and published.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would like to play bass more as a classical musician or performer as opposed to jazz that I play currently.
