Christopher Nissen had only written songs in his parents’ basement when, at 19, he strolled into EMI’s Danish headquarters, guitar in hand, giving the label execs an impromptu concert. His smooth bravado and silvery tenor helped him land a record deal that day. Soon, Nissen (born in 1992 near Copenhagen) was charming listeners well beyond his native Denmark. Since 2012’s Colours (Special Edition), featuring the singer’s viral acoustic cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend,” the singer-songwriter has wooed fans across the globe with his slick, soul-soaked pop. Growing up listening to American and British music, Christopher writes and sings in English, mixing uplifting ballads with funk-dipped hooks and chart-topping collaborations, including 2014’s smooth-talkin’ “CPH Girls,” featuring Texas singer-producer Brandon Beal, and 2016’s falsetto-laced “I Won’t Let You Down,” with California singer Bekuh Boom. In 2023, he made another bold move, starring in and writing the poignant soundtrack for the romantic film A Beautiful Life.
