About Chui Wan
Taking their name from Daoist philosopher Zhuangzi's Qi Wu Lun, a mystical tome concerning the relationship between nature and human life, Chui Wan is a neo-psych rock/experimental pop quartet based out of Beijing, China. Drawing inspiration from post-punk and no wave, as well as bands like No Age and Velvet Underground, the group's sound is built around the largely improvisational compositions of multi-instrumentalist Yan Yulong and guitarist Liu Xinyu, with bassist Wu Qiong and drummer Li Zichao serving as the structural engineers. Chui Wan issued their debut studio long-player, White Night, in 2013, followed an eponymous sophomore outing in early 2015. ~ James Christopher Monger
