Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The first songs that I remember *remembering* were ones I heard in a New Jersey laundromat as a five year-old kid with my mom: Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke," Jim Croce's "You Don't Mess Around With Jim," and Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good."
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Elvis Costello & The Attractions, This Year's Model Simon & Garfunkel, Bookends The Beatles, Revolver Over the course of my life, these are the records I always return to. They never get old for me. The energy, immediacy, and artistry of "Revolver," the acoustic poetry of "Bookends," and the vinegar of "This Year's Model" always inspire me.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Star” When I sing this, I still picture the neighborhood in Somerville, MA where my wife and I lived when I wrote "Star," when I had the luxury of walking home after a show. Beneath the arrangement is a hint of the Carter Family's "Wildwood Flower."
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring Italy, the Netherlands, Brussels, and Germany as a member of Say ZuZu was an incredibly memorable (and life changing) moment in my music career. Opening for Dick Dale was memorable (loudest) as was opening for Richard Buckner (quietest).
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to produce a Simon & Garfunkel album of Louvin Brothers covers.
