Based in Orange County, CA, Cocomelon is an enormously popular online video channel that produces animated content aimed at preschool-age viewers.
∙ In 2005, filmmaker Jay Jeon and his wife began making animated video shorts to entertain and educate their small children, which led to the development of Cocomelon.
∙ Launched in 2006, the Cocomelon video channel had 100 million subscribers by 2020, becoming just the third channel in the world to reach that milestone.
∙ In 2020, “The Bath Song,” Cocomelon’s most popular video, helped the channel become the first ever to rack up one billion views in a single week.
∙ Nursery Rhymes by Cocomelon reached No. 56 on the US iTunes Albums chart in 2021, an impressive showing for a collection of children’s music.
