Artist Biography
One of the oddest entries in a catalogue known for its oddities, Cromagnon's CAVE ROCK on ESP-Disk has an intriguing backstory as well. In 1969, Austin Grasmere and Brian Elliott, two songwriters working for a bubblegum songmill in Connecticut, approached ESP owner Bernard Stollman with the idea of making a truly avant-garde rock record. After getting the go-ahead, the two gathered many of their hippie friends--called the Connecticut Tribe--and cut the noisy, anarchic CAVE ROCK, which would grow in reputation and stature ever since. It would be Crogmagnon's only release.
