About Curly Putman
One of country music's greatest songwriters, Curly Putman scored a number 23 country hit with "The Prison Song" (1960). In 1963, he provided Porter Wagoner with "Green Green Grass of Home," which hit number four in 1965. In 1967, David Houston and Tammy Wynette topped the country charts with "My Elusive Dream." Putman also charted "Set Me Free" in 1967, his last chart entry as a singer. "D.I.V.O.R.C.E.," co-written with Bobby Braddock, hit number one for Tammy Wynette in 1968, and the hits continued throughout the '70s and '80s, including the chart-toppers "Blood Red and Goin' Down" for Tanya Tucker and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" for George Jones. Putman was elected into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1976. ~ TiVo Staff
