About Curtis Salgado
Blues veteran Curtis Salgado has been rocking audiences with his full-force vocals and powerful harmonica work since the 1960s, and has performed with some of the genre's biggest acts. In 1977, Salgado and actor/comedian John Belushi struck up a friendship; much of Salgado's suggested listening formed the set list for the Blues Brothers' Briefcase Full of Blues. After time with Robert Cray, Salgado's output during the '90s and 2000s included More Than You Can Chew, Wiggle Outta This, Soul Activated, and Strong Suspicion. In 2006, he was diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent a liver transplant; two years later, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, but was later declared cancer-free. Clean Getaway and Soul Shot followed, respectively, in 2008 and 2012. ~ Mark Deming
