In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At nine years old, I sat at the piano every day after school, immersed in my siblings’ beginner book. I kept at it, figuring out which note corresponded with which key on the piano, until I taught myself to read music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Cocteau Twins, Head Over Heels Remastered Dead Can Dance, Dead Can Dance (Remastered) Joy Division, The Best of Joy Division Though they’re not classical music, these three albums have had a tremendous impact on me. I can and do listen to them over and over and still feel the power behind the music, undiminished by time or repetition.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Xanadu” Xanadu is my first release, as a single. It represents my first step into creating music professionally, and I love its sense of movement and dynamics, as well as its overall sensibility.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? It’s always a pleasure to hear positive feedback from fans, so that certainly ranks as memorable for me. Teaching myself to read music is a source of pride, as is having trained under the pianist Pierre Huybregts at university.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My dream label is Deutsche Grammophon! I would love to be signed to the label, and have the opportunity for my music to reach a wider audience.
