French rock band Mokaiesh released their debut album in 2008. Based in Paris, the band is led by singer/songwriter Cyril Mokaiesh, who cites Léo Ferré and Jacques Brel among his influences. The band is also comprised of Jan Pham Huu Tri (guitar), Alban Seillé (bass), and Eric Langlois (drums). Upon signing to the Universal Music France subsidiary label AZ, Mokaiesh made their commercial recording debut in 2007 with a five-song self-titled EP featuring the songs "Comme Elle Est Belle" and "Va Savoir." These two songs were subsequently released individually as singles in promotion of the band's 2008 full-length album debut, Mokaiesh. The album reached number 131 on the French albums chart and garnered a lot of critical notice for the band as it toured in support of its debut album. ~ Jason Birchmeier
