D12, also known as the Dirty Dozen, is a sextet of Detroit-based rappers that claim they are "here to bring the sick, the obscene, the disgusting." With this agenda in tow, D12 echo the controversial parade that collaborator Eminem started. D12's debut album, Devil's Night (Interscope/Shady Records) arrived in 2001, followed by 2004's D12 World. Member Deshaun Holton, aka Proof or Dirty Harry died tragically in 2006, the victim of gunfire at the after-hours club CCC on Eight Mile Road in Detroit. In May, D12 announced the band's next album would feature unreleased tracks from Proof. ~ Kerry L. Smith
