About D'archipelago
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My core musical memories came in 1999 when I heard, in close succession, two records that would change my life: Dillinger Escape Plan's "Calculating Infinity," and Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come." They were my gateway to heavy music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? An Autumn for Crippled Children, The Light of September Deafheaven, Sunbather Show Me A Dinosaur, Plantgazer These three albums build upon the tradition of black metal. Hidden in the background of these thick, dense textures, are these major-key, almost poppy chord progressions. The blend of darkness and light is what really sets them apart.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “By the Lights of Gomorrah” Most of my music aims for a sort of Goldilocks Zone: music that is experimental in some ways but also conventional/accessible in others. So in this song, I'm doing things like asymmetrical meter, but also it ends in big poppy sing-along.
