Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was 5 years old, when my father asked me to come into the living room to harmonize with him in front of his friends. He wanted to see whether I could add a third to a song I hadn't heard before. I sang along and to my surprise I could.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Frank Sinatra, Swing Easy! John Coltrane, A Love Supreme John Coltrane, Johnny Hartman, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman Classics They are all albums of my youth. Lush Life was always a masterpiece of harmony, and no one sang it better than Hartman. A Love Supreme was on the turntable every morning for three years, and Swing Easy captured Sinatra at his best.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Messy Little Christmas (Acoustic)” I love this song because it came quickly, which is rare for me. It also evokes the "Santa Baby" type song, that it was modeled after.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was working the door at a popular NY rock club when the owner asked me if I had my guitars around. I said sure; he said James & Jimmy wanted to use them, and would I mind. And that was the night James (Taylor) & Jimmy (Buffet) borrowed my guitars.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd like to share the stage with a few of my songwriting heroes; Tom Waits, John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett, et al, in a cozy 300-seat theatre, full house, trading songs in the round until we're all satisfied.
