About Devin Daniels
Devin Daniels is an alto saxophonist and bandleader from Inglewood, California. He's equally authoritative playing straight-ahead, vanguard, and post-bop jazz, as well as jazz-funk, hip-hop, electronic, and R&B. A longtime recording and performing collaborator with Carlos Niño & Friends, he's also worked with Jamael Dean and Herbie Hancock. Daniels made his recording debut on 2018's I Remember Bu: Alive, Vol. 4 with Ralph Peterson's GenNext Big Band. A year later, he joined pianist Dean on Black Space Tapes, and in 2020 he released Colors, his solo electronic/beatmaking and jazz project under the alias Kara. His album Trio Exposition appeared in 2022. After backing Hancock at the Hollywood Bowl, Daniels toured with the pianist in 2024, the same year he issued the live LesGo! Daniels released his third album, Grandiose, in 2025, and followed with VS. a double-length, improvised concert with saxophonist Henry Solomon.
