About Ditzy Spells
In the artist’s words:
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Gillian Welch, Time (The Revelator)
Green Day, American Idiot
The Avett Brothers, Emotionalism (Bonus Track Version)
American Idiot was the album that got me into music in a serious way. Emotionalism is as close as I get to having a true emotional touchstone - there is so much magic in that record. Time (The Revelator) is unimpeachable. The definition of timeless.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Foreign Airports”
I wrote this song wandering around JFK Airport feeling completely detached – it’s about all the ways that unfamiliar faces and environments start to wear on you, and the specific kind of loneliness that comes from being so far from home for so long.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
So so much but I would love if Hanif Abdurraqib enjoys one of my songs one day. Mostly I really just truly hope that as many people as possible can connect with the feelings in these songs.
