About Doc Gynéco
Artist Biography
Guadeloupean/French ragga/rap/hip-hop artist Doc Gyneco got his start with the short-lived outfit Ministère AMER. Upon its split, Gyneco signed a solo deal with Virgin France. His debut, 1996's Premiere Consultation, scored a number of hit singles in France. After 1998's Liaisons Dangereuses and a rather long layoff, Gyneco returned with the guest star-heavy Quality Street. 2002's Solitaire won the Victoire de la Musique award for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Album of the Year. While the next few years would be relatively quiet for the MC -- aside from some controversial political statements and stances -- Doc Gyneco did manage the albums Homme Nature (2006) and Peace Maker (2008). ~ Chris True
