Dubbing himself a “modern day Kurt Cobain,” Ohio rapper and producer Doobie exists at the cusps of rock and hip-hop, expressing his anguish with clever rhyme schemes. • Doobie began rapping at just eight years old. In his teens, he taught himself how to produce because he couldn’t afford to buy beats. • He caught the attention of Ohio native DJ Hylyte, who signed him to his independent label SCFMG for the release of his 2013 solo debut single, “Ink Me.” • Featuring the cult classic “Hopeless,” which came with a bloody drug-themed music video, Doobie’s 2015 mixtape Cocaine Christmvs earned the rapper a significant online following. • He propelled himself into the public eye with his self-produced 2017 hit “When the Drugs Don’t Work,” which garnered over 80 million streams across platforms. • In 2019, Doobie released his debut album, Faithfully Faded, which features rappers like Yelawolf, Clever, and Krash Minati.
