About Doublespeak
British synth pop supergroup Doublespeak unites the talents of Vince Clarke (Erasure), Neil Arthur (Blancmange), and Benge. Together they indulge in reimagining their favorite tracks by stripping them back to analog electronic versions, as heard on their debut album, 2026's Doublespeak. The project's initial spark formed between Clarke and Arthur in 2017, after discussing the idea of reimagining their favorite songs and giving them a new sonic identity. Benge was brought in a little later, and they worked on tracks behind the scenes for years. They officially announced their work in early 2026, emerging with their cover of Fad Gadget's "Back to Nature." As more details were revealed, it became clear that the array of songs they wanted to reimagine were quite varied, including tracks by ABBA, the Carpenters, and the Magnetic Fields. Their eponymous debut album arrived just a few months later in May 2026.
