An all-round music creative, Dru Chen burst onto the Singapore scene in 2019, six years after his Australian debut. Building on an early start as a young concert pianist and violinist, the Melbourne-born artist’s repertoire shows his quirky side, with soaring vocals and toe-tapping vintage melodies. Mirror Work, his debut album in Singapore, is a groove-heavy, unadulterated take on big-band ’70s R&B, funk and soul, but Chen’s sound refuses to be defined by genre with its eclectic mix of indie-pop and retro sounds.
